Subscriber Privacy Policy

Route2 is committed to safeguarding the privacy rights of our subscribers, particularly with respect to personal information that has been disclosed to us or that we have collected or used to provide you with better customer service or to manage and develop our business operations. Personal information is information about you that will render you identifiable, and may include your name, address, phone number, credit information, billing and payment records and information about your service subscriptions and usage. Personal information does not include any information published in a public directory. You may request that Route2 disclose any personal information in our possession, and Route2 will comply with your request provided:

  1. You give Route2 sufficient notice;
  2. You provide sufficient detail regarding the disclosure so as to enable Route2 to comply with your request; and
  3. You agree to reimburse Route2 for costs incurred if we would incur unusual expense to provide the information.

You may refuse to provide you personal information to Route2 or withdraw your consent for Route2 to retain your personal information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and resonable notice. However, refusal or withdrawal of consent may affect our ability to provide you with Route2 products and services.

While Route2's general policy is not to share your personal information with any party outside of Route2, there are certain limited circumstances in which it is necessary to do so. When Route2 provides your personal information to third parties, we provide only that information that is required in the circumstances. Information Route2 provides to third parties is to be used only for the purpose stipulated and is subject to strict terms of confidentiality.

Third parties to whome Route2 may provide your personal information include:

  1. An agent or supplier who assists us in the development, enhancement, marketing or provision of any Route2 products or services (e.g. a contractor who installs or repairs Route2 products and services);
  2. Another communications service provider, in order to offer efficient and effective telecommunications services;
  3. A credit reporting or collection agency (for the expresss purpose of the collection of past due bills);
  4. Law enforcement agencies, in emergencies, for internal security matters, or where required by court order or search warrant;
  5. Investigative bodies and legal counsel, when required to do so by law;
  6. A financial institution or credit grantor (e.g. where a customer has opted to pay their bills via pre-authorized chequing or pre-authorized credit card withdrawals);
  7. Emergency services; and
  8. A person who, in the reasonable judgement of Route2, is seeking the information as your authorized agent.

You agree to provide Route2 with prior written notice of any changes to your billing information, including but not limited to changes in address and contact information.

Communications via the Route2 service

Route2 does not monitor or retain alll communications made over the Route2 service. However, for quality control or customer service purposes, our employees may randomly observe or monitor communications in order to test the integrity, performance and proper operation of the Route2 service, to effect mechanical repairs or to protect property belonging to Route2. We may intercept and disclose communications transmitted via the Route2 service as permitted or required by our policies, the Subscription Agreement or any applicable laws and regulartions, including but not limited to the circumstances contemplated in sections 184 and 193 (and related provisions) of the Criminal Code.

External Sites

Through Route2 you can excess links to external sites which are not governed by Route2's policies. We do not control these external sites and Route2 is not responsible for any content or services offered by these external sites. Operators of linked sites may collect your personal information. Prior to disclosing your personal information on sites you access via Route2, we strongly encourage you to read the privacy policies of these external sites to learn how your information may be collected, used, shared, and disclosed.

Cookies

A "cookie" is a small data text file that is stored locally on your computer and allows Route2 to authenticate your browser. Cookies themselves do not contain any personal information and Route2 does not use cookies to collect personal information. You will find that most major sites use cookies and most major browsers are set up to accept them. However, you have control over cookies. You can modify your browser preferences either to notify you when a cookie is received, or to refuse to accept cookies. But, you should understand that if you choose not to accept cookies, some sites may not function properly or optimally and you will not be permitted to access certain secured sites.

Remember the Risks Whenever You Use the Internet

While we do our best to protect your personal information collected in accordance with our policy, we cannot guarantee the security of any information that you transmit using the Route2 service. You are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your personal passwords or other account information. Route2 disclaims and responsibility or liability for the policies of other Internet sites or services that may be accessible through Route2 and that may have separate and independent data and privacy practices.

Route2 will continue to stay current on the critical issue of privacy. In doing so, we may modify this Policy when we feel it is appropriate to do so. If we change our Policy, we will post those changes on our web site in a timely manner.
