Project Worker – City of Summerside Smart Grid Programmer – Contract / Term 6 months
Job Description
The Computer Programmer will write a logical series of instructions that a computer can understand (programs) to implement the designs specified by the systems engineer. The programmer codes these instructions in any of a number of programming languages, depending on the need.
Requirements
The successful applicant must have very good literary (non-technical), listening and abstract thinking skills, and be able to articulate technical problems and solutions for understanding. The position is not suitable for applicants with development experience limited to web-based applications.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
- Diploma in Electronics, Electro-Mechanical or equivalent Experience
- Minimum of 10 years experience (amateur or professional) as a computer programmer.
- Contributions to a published project (either public, commercial, or private industry).
- Independent or small-team work where all aspects of product development have been attempted from ideation through to completion is preferred.
Qualifications
Technical Languages
- Strong working knowledge of the W3C standards based web (HTML/CSS), JavaScript (including libraries).
- C/C++ (Preferred), others
- Scripting: BASH, PHP, others
Other
The successful applicant will:
- demonstrate proficiency with the Linux command-line, (Debian/Ubuntu preferred) including ad-hoc scripting, to determine and collate operating conditions of electronics systems across the network and create reports.
- have experience with version control systems and wikis.
